How Enabling Design Mode in Word Affects Your Ability to Undo Prior Changes (Removes Undo History)

If you enable Design Mode in Microsoft Word, you won't be able to use the Undo button (Ctrl + Z) in Word to revert any changes you made in your project Word document prior to enabling Design Mode. This includes changes you made using ActiveLink and any other changes you made in the Word document. Consider this implication before you enable Design Mode.

Note: The inability to use the Undo button in Word to revert changes made prior to enabling Design Mode is caused by native Word functionality; it is not caused by the ActiveDisclosure or ActiveLink Add-ins for Word.

You can enable Design Mode to turn content control display on to see the content controls that contain your tagged content. You can enable Design Mode by doing either of the following:

  • Select the Design Mode check box in the Developer tab in the Word ribbon

  • Select the Content Controls check box in the ActiveDisclosure tab in the Word ribbon

Note: The ActiveDisclosure tab is only available if you have installed the ActiveDisclosure Add-in for Microsoft Word.
